🌳 How to determine that a tree is sick?
A forest is a living organism. And like any organism, a tree “signals” when something is wrong with it. It is important to notice these signs in time to prevent the spread of diseases and pests.
Here are some of the main symptoms to pay attention to 👇
🍂 1. Change in color of leaves or needles
A delicate crown, small leaves and shortened needles, yellowing or browning of leaves or premature fall, insignificant growth – this may indicate a weakening of the tree, fungal damage or damage to the root system.
🪵 2. Cracks and damage to the bark
Deep cracks, peeling bark or the appearance of fungal fruiting bodies are signs of possible stem rot or infections.
🐛 3. Eating leaves and needles, holes in the trunk or sawdust at the base
The presence of damage to leaves or needles, small holes in the trunk, drilling flour (sawdust) or resin secretion may indicate that the tree is inhabited by pests.
🌿 4. Drying of individual branches
If the top or part of the crown dries up, this may be a consequence of damage to the vascular system of the tree or damage to the roots. The appearance of water shoots.
🍄 5. Fungal formations near the root
The appearance of fungi at the base of the trunk often signals the development of root rot. The formation of hollows.
⚠️ Important: not all external changes mean critical danger, but systematic or massive manifestations are a reason for a detailed examination.
Specialists of the State Forestry Agency “Kharkiv Forest Protection” regularly conduct forest pathology examinations to detect the problem at an early stage and prevent its spread 🌲🔎
